I have noticed that Hauz Khas Village (HKV) has become quite a fad for culinary experiences and watering holes in the past year and a half, and so, after reading a lot of good reviews on Zomato, I started to frequent HKV myself as well. One of those times, I met with a bunch of friends there and we were, as is the norm, spoilt for choice. The order of the day was to find a place with the least amount of walking so we ended up going to Garage Inc., which was on the 2nd floor of one of the first few buildings on the main street.

The place is done up like a garage (I’m being Mr. Obvious here): there were tires, car tags and the like. It’s perfectly lit (not too dark, not too bright a la Goldilocks), the seating is well spaced out and the place doesn’t feel cramped at all, unlike most other places in the vicinity. The weather was nice as it was the onset of winters, so we opted for the outdoor seating on the smallish deck - choose for the weather, not for the view.

We started off with pints, INR 175++, which was pretty decent for HKV standards. Unfortunately, I don’t have much to say about their cocktails because nobody from our table ordered any, but from what I’ve heard they are pretty decent, and are good VFM.

The cuisine is American and Mexican, and it is one of the very few places I have visited which serves PBJs, unfortunately they were average at best. The vegetarian Sloppy Joe sandwich was pretty decent, and so were the Reggae Nachos. Their Chicken Burrito was called The Hail Mary. I personally liked it so much that I ordered another one, knowing full well that I won’t be able to finish it and would need help of my very eager friends. Needless to say, they didn’t disappoint me.

The servers were warm, and the service was pretty quick, though I don’t know whether that would’ve been the case if the place were fuller - one of the strange things is that almost everyone I know has been here, but no one has ever seen this place to be full/busy - strange!

All in all, I’d recommend this place if you are looking to talk amongst yourselves, and aren’t very concerned with the type and tone of music, or with a busy crowd. If mainstream Mexican cuisine is right up your alley, you won’t be disappointed either. If it’s nearing the end of the month and you aren’t as rich as you were a week or two back but you just HAVE TO go to HKV, this place might just be your saving grace!

Meals for 5 - INR 1950 (mostly veg)
Lots of beer for 2 - INR 1900 (KF Ultras)

Apparently they also have Karaoke nights.
